Island Badija

The small island covered with macchia and pine forest. It is summer resort and sport center. It must have been small church of St. Peter on this island, because it is mentioned in 1368 as 'Scoleum Sancti Petri'.
Later it was inhabited by the Franciscans from Bosnia, who were given the land for monastery by the municipality of Korčula. Present monastery and church with one nave is work of the local masters from the 15th century.
