The settlement 42 kilometers north-west of Dubrovnik, in the Kolocep channel in two kilometers long bay. It has numerous gravel beaches, pleasant climate, rich vegetation. The area of Slano was inhabited already in prehistoric times (the remains of castellieri and mounds on the nearby hills). The citizens of Dubrovnik gained Slano in 1399. It was the seat of the prince (Prince's Place, rebuilt at the end of the 19th century). The Franciscan church was built in 1420 and the parish church of St. Vlaho in 1758.>
