The village on the coast of the bay of Župa, ten kilometers from Dubrovnik. Hilly island shelters it from the cold, northern winds. It has long sand beach. Present name came from Latin sub Breno, becaus it lies below the main part of Župa (Roman name: Brenum). It was mentioned already in 1294, when the part of the land in the area of Srebreno was kept by the Benedictine abbey on Mrkan. The remains of the old architecture (forts, churches, cemeteries) are still visible.>
