Island Daksa

DAKSA, a small island in the extreme south-eastern part of the Kolocep Channel, at the entrance into the Gruz port and Rijeka Dubrovacka. It is covered by pine forests and subtropical plants. The small harbour on the north-eastern coast is used only for boats; it is protected from southerly winds but is exposed to the bora.
The church of St. Sabina with a Franciscan monastery stood on Daksa. The Franciscan monks were forced to abandon the monastery and all structures were converted into fortifications and later destroyed.
A very specific Way of the Cross was constructed on the island, in the form of small chapels throughout the island.
