Island Zirje

It is located in front of the Kornati archipelago. Žirje is the largest inhabited island in the Šibenik archipelago with the area of 16.2 kilometers. It consists mostly of limestone, with a few fertile Karst field. The dominant vegetation is macchia that is used for pasture. The inhabitants have vineyards, olive-groves and orchards. They are also fishermen. The only larger settlement is Žirje, located at some distance from the sea and connected with the cove Muna.
