Primosten

The town and harbor 28 kilometers south from Šibenik, located on the peninsula Raduča and Primošten. It is connected with the mainland by a narrow causeway. The inhabitants live of vineyards (famous red wine from Primošten - babić), olives and fishing. There are large beaches in the coves, numerous hotels, and great possibilities for the underwater fishing in the coves and on the nearby islands (Smokvica, Maslinovik, Lukovnjak, Grbavac, Barilac).
The names of the town comes from the Croatian verb "premostiti" (meaning "to bridge over"), because the island where the settlement was originally formed in the 16th century, was connected with the mainland by a bridge. The parish church of St. Juraj was reconstructed in 1760, and the church of Our Lady of Mercy was mentioned for the first time in 1553.
