Skradinf

The town and the port on the right bank of the river Krka, 16 kilometers from Šibenik. There is a swimming beach on the river Krka and on the mouth of the same river. In the prehistory there was an Illyrian settlement (Scardona), that later became the Roman municipium (the remains of the water supply system and buildings, epigraphic monuments). In the 6th century at latest, Skradin became the seat of the diocese that was abolished in 1830. Around 615, the Avars and Slavs destroyed the city that was later rebuilt. In the time of the national dynasties, a Pre-Romanesque church was buitl there (the stone fragments with motives of the wattle-work ornament).>
