The town lies 13 kilometers north from Šibenik, beside a shallow bay, between the promontory Borovnik and the cove Vrulja. Beautiful beaches, quiet coves, and aromatic vegetation enabled the development of tourism.

The inhabitants live of agriculture, fishing and tourism. In the historical sources, the settlement was for the first time mentioned in 1402, and in the 16th century it was encircled by the wall and towers (only one is preserved).
