Povlja

The place on the north-eastern coast, in the cove of the same name. People have olive-groves and vineyards, and they are also fishermen. The surrounding coves have nice swimming beaches.
There are remains of Roman walls on the site Žalo. The Early Christian basilica from the 5th-6th century is preserved in the center of the village. The tower for the defense against the Turkish attacks was raised next to the church and several times reconstructed.
