It the Middle Ages it was a fortified town. Since 1374 it came under the Habsburg dynasty, and in the 16th century under Venice. The system of the medieval fortifications is partly preserved. Through Vela vrata (the Great Gates) from 1718 you enter the sqare with the parish church of St. Antun the Monk, with rich inventory and paintings. In the street that leads from square to Mala vrata (the Small gate), there is the city hall from 1555 with loggia and the clock-tower (burned down during the World War II and afterwards restored).
