Beramf

Five kilometers from Pazin, at the location of the prehistoric hillfort. In the Middle Ages it was fortified with wall and rectangular tower. The church of St. Martin from 1431 (with the Glagolitic inscription on the baptistery) was enlarged in the 19th century. On the walls, triumphal arch and ceiling of the sanctuary you can still see Gothic wall paintings from the 15th century. A few illuminated Gothic manuscripts from the 14th and 15th century also origin from Beram. On the cemetery there is the church of St. Mary on Škrilinah with the great cycles of the wall paintings from 1474 by master Vincent of Kastav. Especially interesting is the composition "the Dance of Death", one of the most important works of the medieval painting in Istria.
