The small town on the hill (135 m), 10 kilometers north from Pula and 6 kilometers from the coast. It preserved the picturesque medieval look: inside the circle of houses that had defense purpose, there are small, narrow streets grouped around two main directions. In the center, there are few palaces from the period between the 15th and 18th century. The most representative is the Bradamante Palace with ornaments on the front. On the central square, there is the parish church of St. Blaž, built from 1761 to 1808 with rich inventory and valuable paintings ("The Last Supper" by G. Contorini from 1598). In the church of St. Mary of Karmel, built in 1630, there is a large altar painting "St. Stjepan", the work of Giovanni Antonio Zanco (Venice, the 18th century). The surrounding area of Vodnjan is full of finds from the antiquity to the Gothic period.
