Vrsar
The small town, nine kilometers from Poreč, whose inhabitants are mostly fishermen and wine-growers. The row of green islands stretches along the coast. On the near hills there are remains of the Illyrian hillforts. Some remains of the Roman settlement Ursaria that was in the area of Vrsar are preserved in the harbor and in the vicinity of the town (villas, water supply system). The western town gate remains out of the medieval fortification. Beside the gate, there is the small church from the 18th century. The parish church of St. Mary of Sea was built in the 13th century and it is one of the most valuable Istrian Romanesque buildings.
