Gerovo

GEROVO, a town in Gorski Kotar, 20 km south of Cabar; elevation 584 m; population 807. Chief occupations include farming, livestock breeding, forestry, wood-processing and textile industry.
The parish of Gerovo was founded in 1504. The parish church of Sts. Hermagor and Fortunato was built in 1842 in Baroque style. The harmonious western façade with a massive bell tower and the staircase leading to a plateau give the church a monumental aspect. - On the nearby Sveta Gora (Holy Mountain) is the votive church of St. Mary in Baroque and classicst styles.
