The place and port at the end of deep and narrow cove on the coast of the Velebit Channel. The ferryboat for Mišnjak (the island of Rab) starts from there. For the first time it has been mentioned in 1179 as the parish Ablana. In the 13th century it was the Free Royal Town, and at the end of the century it is under the rule of the princes from the Frankopan family. In the 16th century it was burned down by the Turks, and about 1639 it was settled by the new inhabitants from Dalmatia. On the promontory in front of the port, there are the ruins of the medieval forified town. The church on the cemetery has been mentioned since 1179, and it was renewed in the 16th and 17th centuries.
