SALI, a small town and harbour in the cove bearing the same name, on the north-eastern coast of the island of Dugi Otok; population 1,190. It was named after the former saltworks and first mentioned under that name in 1105. Economy is based on farming, growing of vines, olives and fruit, fishing, fish processing and tourism. Sali is located on the regional road running along the island; ferry lines with Zadar. Yachts may dock in the outer part of the harbour; during north-easterlywinds in the cove of Saica, northwest of Sali.
