Island Kosljun
The small island in Puntarska draga, covered with rich M,editerranean vegetation. It has been inhabited since Roman times. The Benedictine abbey was founded in the 12th century, and in 1447 it was taken over by Franciscans, who built a new friery with the clauster in the 16th century. Today, the island is owned by Franciscans and it is not allowed to swim there. There are daily masses in the church, especially for the Christian holidays. In the monastery museum you can see a rich collection of iconas, paintings, national costumes, books, incunabulas, and rare examples of the Glagolitic manuscripts. The concerts of classic music are being regulary held in the atrium of the friery, in summer. The transport to the island is possible only by boats from Punat.
